Bicycling, BMX racing, mountain biking, road cycling, track cycling, jumping, training, competition, and related activities are inherently dangerous. These activities can result in equipment damage, property damage, serious bodily injury, paralysis, or death. No bicycle component can eliminate these risks.
By purchasing, installing, or using a Tier 1 Components product, the purchaser and rider acknowledge the risks associated with cycling and accept responsibility for selecting, installing, maintaining, inspecting, and using the product appropriately. Riders must use sound judgment, ride within their abilities, follow applicable rules and laws, and wear properly fitted safety equipment, including a certified helmet.
Nothing on this page excludes or limits any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability that may arise from a proven product defect, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or other responsibility protected by applicable law.
Tier 1 Components makes reasonable efforts to keep product descriptions, specifications, compatibility information, photographs, pricing, availability, installation information, and other website content accurate and current. However, website content may contain typographical errors, technical inaccuracies, omissions, or outdated information.
Product photographs and digital renderings are for general reference. Colors, surface finishes, carbon weave appearance, machining marks, anodized finishes, graphics, hardware, packaging, and minor construction details may vary from the product delivered. Such variations do not necessarily affect product function and are not automatically defects.
Tier 1 Components may correct errors and update specifications, designs, materials, manufacturing methods, packaging, pricing, or availability without prior notice. The specifications and instructions supplied with the product, or subsequently published by Tier 1 Components for that product, control over general website descriptions.
Each product must be used only for the bicycle type, riding discipline, rider category, wheel size, frame or fork standard, load range, and application identified in the applicable product description, technical document, or installation instruction. A product advertised for BMX racing must not be assumed suitable for freestyle BMX, downhill riding, dirt jumping, motocross, motorized use, cargo use, tandem use, or any other discipline unless Tier 1 Components expressly approves that use in writing.
Do not use a Tier 1 Components product on an electric bicycle, motorized bicycle, powered cycle, or other assisted vehicle unless the product is specifically identified as approved for that application. Motor assistance, higher system weight, greater speed, and repeated braking loads may place substantially different stresses on components.
Rider weight, bicycle weight, riding style, terrain, speed, impacts, racing frequency, and maintenance practices affect component life. The purchaser is responsible for confirming that each product is appropriate for the rider and intended bicycle setup.
Bicycle components are produced in numerous sizes, interfaces, standards, tolerances, and generations. The customer is responsible for verifying compatibility before installation, including dimensions, axle and dropout standards, steerer and headset standards, clamp diameters, brake interfaces, rim and tire compatibility, spoke specifications, hub spacing, fastener requirements, and any other applicable interface.
Do not force, grind, drill, bend, spread, compress, machine, or otherwise alter a product to make it fit. Contact Tier 1 Components before installation when compatibility is uncertain. Compatibility statements apply only to the specific products and configurations identified and do not guarantee compatibility with every third-party part marketed under a similar standard.
Correct installation is essential to safe operation. Installation by an experienced, qualified bicycle mechanic is strongly recommended, particularly for safety-critical components such as forks, handlebars, stems, wheels, rims, hubs, brakes, cranks, headsets, and steering components.
Installers must follow the current Tier 1 Components instructions, published torque specifications, bicycle manufacturer instructions, and applicable component manufacturer instructions. Use a properly calibrated torque wrench where torque values are specified. Fasteners, interfaces, preparation compounds, lubricants, retaining compounds, rim tape, tires, tubes, sealants, spokes, nipples, and related parts must be appropriate for the application.
Improper installation, incompatible parts, incorrect torque, over-tightening, under-tightening, contamination, damaged threads, incorrect spoke tension, improper tire pressure, incorrect assembly compounds, or failure to follow instructions can damage a product or cause sudden failure. Warranty coverage may be denied when the claimed damage was caused by improper installation, incompatible components, unauthorized alteration, or failure to follow applicable instructions. This provision does not require customers to use a particular branded service provider or replacement part where prohibited by law.
The bicycle must be inspected before every ride and after every crash, impact, hard landing, transportation incident, or unusual noise or change in performance. Check for cracks, chips, dents, deformation, looseness, corrosion, damaged threads, pulled inserts, delamination, spoke or nipple damage, abnormal flex, damaged graphics that may conceal impact marks, and other signs of wear or damage.
Immediately stop using any product that may be damaged. Do not ride a bicycle with a component that is cracked, loose, bent, excessively worn, improperly installed, or otherwise questionable. When damage cannot be confidently evaluated, remove the product from service and contact Tier 1 Components or an experienced bicycle mechanic.
A visual inspection cannot identify every defect. Internal damage may exist even when the exterior appears normal. Continuing to ride after an impact or with a suspected defect may result in sudden component failure.
Tier 1 Components may sell products made from carbon fiber composites, aluminum alloys, steel, titanium, polymers, rubber, textiles, or other materials. Each material has different characteristics, inspection needs, fatigue behavior, corrosion concerns, and failure modes.
Carbon fiber components can sustain internal cracking, delamination, crushed fibers, or other structural damage that may not be externally visible. Carbon components involved in a crash or significant impact must be removed from service until appropriately evaluated. Do not clamp carbon components in a repair stand or fixture unless the clamping location and method are expressly approved.
Metal components can fatigue, bend, crack, corrode, or develop stress concentrations over time. A component that has been bent must not be straightened and returned to service unless Tier 1 Components expressly authorizes that procedure. Rubber, polymer, seal, and textile products can degrade from age, ultraviolet exposure, heat, chemicals, pressure, and normal use.
No bicycle component has an unlimited service life. Components experience fatigue and wear from repeated loading even when properly installed and used. Racing, sprinting, jumping, heavy braking, aggressive riding, frequent travel, high rider or system weight, and harsh environmental conditions may shorten service life.
The absence of visible damage does not guarantee continued safety. Components must be inspected regularly and replaced when worn, damaged, obsolete, involved in a significant impact, or when their service history is unknown. Used components should be treated with particular caution because prior loads, crashes, installation methods, and maintenance may be unknown.
Competition use places higher and more frequent loads on bicycle components than ordinary recreational riding. Riders using Tier 1 Components products for racing are responsible for more frequent inspection, maintenance, and preventative replacement based on use, condition, and service history.
Participation in a sanctioned event does not mean that a product has been inspected or approved by Tier 1 Components, the event organizer, a sanctioning body, or any official. Compliance with event equipment rules remains the responsibility of the rider, parent or guardian, mechanic, and team.
Use only cleaning products, lubricants, sealants, greases, assembly compounds, and thread-locking products suitable for the component and material. Solvents, harsh cleaners, pressure washing, excessive heat, brake fluid, adhesives, paints, coatings, and other chemicals may weaken, discolor, contaminate, or damage components.
Do not expose products to temperatures, storage conditions, or environmental conditions outside the limits stated in the applicable product instructions. Maintenance intervals are minimum guidance and may need to be shortened for racing, wet conditions, dirt, sand, salt, travel, or frequent use.
Unless expressly authorized in writing by Tier 1 Components, do not drill, cut, sand, machine, bend, spread, weld, heat, repaint, refinish, recoat, remove structural material from, or otherwise modify a product. Do not repair a damaged safety-critical component using filler, resin, adhesive, welding, straightening, or a third-party repair process without written authorization.
Unauthorized modifications or repairs may create hidden damage or stress concentrations and may void warranty or Crash Replacement eligibility when they cause or contribute to the claimed condition.
A parent or legal guardian is responsible for selecting appropriate equipment for a minor rider, supervising installation and maintenance, explaining safe use, and ensuring that the bicycle is inspected before use. Children should not determine component compatibility, torque settings, maintenance requirements, or whether a damaged product is safe to continue using.
This disclaimer page does not replace or expand the written Tier 1 Components Limited Warranty or Crash Replacement Program. Warranty and Crash Replacement claims are governed by the terms published for those programs at the time applicable to the purchase, together with rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
Because Tier 1 Components provides a written warranty on eligible consumer products, implied warranties are not disclaimed where federal or state law prohibits that result. Any lawful limitation on the duration of an implied warranty must appear in the applicable written warranty and is subject to jurisdictions that do not permit such limitations.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tier 1 Components is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, including loss of use, loss of time, loss of profits, loss of race entry fees, travel costs, lodging costs, substitute equipment, or damage to other property, arising from the use or inability to use a product.
This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law and does not limit legally protected claims for personal injury caused by a proven defective consumer product, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Some states and countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some limitations may not apply to a particular purchaser.

Where a transaction bears a reasonable relationship to South Carolina and applicable law permits the parties to choose governing law, South Carolina law will govern without regard to conflict-of-law principles. For international commercial sales that are not consumer transactions, the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is excluded to the extent the exclusion is valid and incorporated into the parties' agreement.
Customers are responsible for confirming that a product may lawfully be imported, possessed, installed, and used in their jurisdiction. Tier 1 Components may limit or decline shipment to jurisdictions where legal, regulatory, carrier, warranty-service, or product-compliance requirements cannot reasonably be satisfied.
If any provision of these disclaimers is found invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted or severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
These disclaimers must be read subject to all non-waivable rights provided by applicable federal, state, provincial, territorial, national, or local law. No statement on this page is intended to misrepresent or restrict a consumer's lawful warranty, product liability, right-to-repair, or other statutory rights.
